When you understand the basics of nodes, elements and attributes, you can move to basic HTML. HTML4 is much easier to learn to start with, before starting on the new stuff that HTML5 adds. W3 schools is a good site to get started. http://www.w3schools .com/ Copy and paste that into your browser, then remove the space between the s and the .com.
