domain name registration and webhosting service provider creating problems

d_wathi
Hi

when we buy a hosting, domain service and SEO from the same provider later due to some issues company decides to terminate the contract as per the signed contract terms and conditions upon mutually agreement, even then the service provider creates problems by not sharing hosting control panel details and not willing to let us move our domain registration service to the different service provider( they are not willing to share EPP codes and authorization codes )

Additional information: our domain contact details like address, telephone and email contact is with our details but the domain name registration is with this service provider.
please tell us how to handle this situation , we keep on requesting them and accepting all their demands but they are not behaving professionally we are finding too much difficult to handle them.

Please suggest on the below request.

1. what measures we can take , can we go legally please suggest, if we have to go legally how and where to go
2. Is it recommended to keep domain name registration service with one service provider and keep webhosting with other service provider and SEO with another service provider, please suggest us the best practice methods.

please suggest us.

Thanks

ALWAYS register your domain and keep control over the registration. If you control the domain everything else becomes secondary. It's going to be tough to gain access to the domain. Did this company ever "invoice" you for the domain?

If you can get control of the domain you can always move on. You will loose SEO ranking, but we can fix that over time. If you want more help I will need more details. PM me.

yes they have invoiced for the domain also does spliiting services are good

    Thanks for the information,
Did this company ever "invoice" you for the domain.
Yes they have invoice for the domain and we have also paid , in additional we keep paying lakhs of amount for SEO every month.
Can you please suggest the necessary steps that we can do.

    2. To avoid such incidents in future splitting the domain name registration service to on provider and web development work to another service provider and SEO altogether to the different service provider , will this be a good practice please suggest.

You can approach Registrar first and then ICANN to get control of your domain. Forget about all the intermediate entities.
1.Go check whois of your domain to know its Registrar. use http://www.changeip.com/whois.asp
Contact your Registrar and ask them to help you with domain panel access.

    2. If Registrar refuses to assist, go contact the top most body - ICANN. You will have to follow their process. Please read http://www.icann.org/en/help/dndr to know your case and for other details or just contact them directly. They will definitely help you out.

The advantage that you have is that all the contact details are in your name. Make sure you contact them only with the registered details to prove ownership.

    Suggestion for service provider:
You need not worry too much about service provider. Not to mention, always go for a reputed one, with good support and of course, which you can also afford.

Domain Name - you will always have ICANN's help for this service and they are the final authority. They take care of all the policies/malpractices in the industry wrt to Names and Numbers on internet.

Hosting - This will be your responsibility because there is no governing body here. Make sure you always get the account, ftp details; irrespective of the fact that the development is taken care of by your service provider/developer.

This is to ensure that you take a backup of your website regularly and are not helpless if ever you have to switch hosting service.

SEO - don't have much idea in this regard :)

Thats not a compulsory to having their services its an choice if we buy a domain name from a site we can host it any where and get other services from an another provider but when we get all things in a single place then whats the reason to go for an another provider.
