Duplicate mailbox has suddenly appeared

BACKGROUND: Running Server 2003, Exchange 2003 (on server side), Windows XP Pro SP2 and Outlook 2003 (on client side)

PROBLEM: I have a staff member who has suddenly had an exact duplicate of his mailbox suddenly appear in his Outlook folder listing. The mailbox is housed on the server (no, it's not in a .PST file), but for some reason it's duplicate has appeared and cannot be deleted.

I have checked the Exchange System Manager and all appears to be in order, there's no duplicate listing in Outlook's Data File Management applet, and there's no difference between either of the 2 mailboxes that show (all folders and contained files are exact).

I have spoken to the user, an investigated myself, and have found no reason that a duplicate should (or could) appear, and there seems to be no way to delete one of the copies.

Does anyone know what may have caused this to happen, and more importantly, can anyone suggest a way to delete the second copy.
