Gateway IP

amar_shrivastav
hello friends

Can any one tell me how to find the GATEWAY IP of PC connected to my network.

I have three different gateway routers, and we will assign gateway depending on the bandwidth utilization.

I am able to find the computer name, workgroup, ip address, and username, MAC address of workstations from my PC using Angry IP Scanner, but not able to find which GATEWAY IP assigned to which PC and what are the DNS values.

Please provide some HELP. Please post your reply soon.....

You can extract the default gateway information using the ipconfig command in a logon script when the user logs in and write the information to a text file in the user's home directory or append the line to a shared log file somewhere in the server, even writing to the event log is possible from a batch file.

The command ipconfig /all gives you both the default gateway and DNS server.

You may also be able to develop a script which reads the registry entries of the workstations remotely. The problem in this method is that old interface information is stored in the registry, and your script will need to generate the correct registry key in the style of:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\{a very long hexadecimal string of characters} before it can access the entries for DefaultGateway and NameServer.

There must be a number of commercial hardware and software audit applications which collect this information remotely from the registry of the workstation.
