Help with computer?

My hp pavillion worked fine until i had to move it today..after i got it all hooked up when i turned it on it started up all fine until the part when it is supposed to show the desktop it just goes black. The tower makes all the normal sounds as it is supposed too but i just cant see anything. Also it does the same thing when i try to boot the computer into safe mode it just goes blank at the menu;.

    On some systems with a On Board and Plug In Video Card the On Board works till the OS is loaded and then stops working. If you have a Plug In Video Card you should be connecting the Monitor to that connection not the one for the On Board Video.

    If you have a plug In Video Card it will be at 90 Degree's to the Back Plate and if this is a Tower Case below the Back Plate where the USB, Keyboard/Mouse plug in.

    I plugged my monitor into the place i have always put the plug.

    I have found another problem that is probably the whole thing is theres a screen that says{ (windows root>system32\hal.dll is corrupt please reinstall the problem is i do not have an xp disk

    You need to rebuild the OS. This file is a list of the hardware in your computer and is different for all computers unless they have identical Hardware. I have only seen error messages like this appear when things like the M'Board have been changed.

    But regardless you need to rebuild the OS. If you have XP as an OS you can do what M$ Call a In Place Install but you will need a M$ Branded Install Disc as apposed to a HP Recovery Disc. Follow the directions under method 2 here:-

    Method 2: Repair install of Windows XP by starting your computer from the Windows XP CD
    Note If Windows XP was preinstalled on your computer, you may need the installation CD to reinstall. Contact your computer manufacturer to make sure that you have the installation CD for a repair installation.

    To reinstall Windows XP by starting your computer from the Windows XP CD, follow these steps:
    Insert the Windows XP CD into your computer's CD drive or DVD drive, and then restart your computer.
    When you receive the "Press any key to boot from CD" message on the screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.
    The following message on the Welcome to Setup screen will appear:
    This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft Windows XP to run on your computer: To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER. To repair a Windows XP installation by using Recovery Console, press R. To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
    Press ENTER to set up Windows XP.
    On the Windows XP Licensing Agreement screen, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.
    Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.
    Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to reinstall Windows XP. After you repair Windows XP, you may have to reactivate your copy of Windows XP. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    I used to have Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 and expired so I got the trial 30 day again... and it expires tomorrow..

    I need a free download of it again . How?? I uninstalled it and tried to download it again thinking I can get the trial for 30 days again.. but it says I have 1 day left .

    What can I do??
    I have windows xp but upgraded to windows 7 a while back.


    Also Why am I getting windows error messages about a problem with the page?

    On the bottom of the page is a yellow error icon. Need help with both questions..

    Personally for anti viruis i use Avast which works very well and has a free version just google avast antivirus

    I use Microsoft Security Essentials, it has worked extremely well and can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/. Also your ISP may offer free anti-virus Software I know that AT&T gives McAffee and the local cable company gives CA Security Suite.
