I have an agent in the office with a laptop running windows 7. Our network here in XP (home- I am trying to migrate to professional) How can I let my agent print to our network printer from his laptop?

The Win 7 laptop needs to be added to the workgroup.
Then the printer needs to be installed on the laptop
This will only work if - and only if the printer manufacturer has produced drivers for the printer that work in windows 7
Use the add printer wizard on the laptop and hopefully it will detect your printer

If you don't have the drivers on XP for windows 7, then attach the printer to your Windows 7 box, and share it from there.

The windows 7 box is a laptop that is ussually used outside of the office. The rest of the network are desktop units. It's kinda a weird situation I inherited. The Desktops all run XP home edition. All bought right off the shelf. The laptop belongs to one of the agents. He simply wants to hook up and print from the large office printer. That printer is attatched to one of the desktops by its parallel port and shared with the rest of the network. I can't get the windows 7 unit to see the desktop units to share the printer.

That's what I was trying to do but for some reason I can't get the windows 7 machine to see the XP machines

Check the workgroup name on all the computers, it has to be the same on all of them in order for this to work, you might well need to run the network setup wizard on the xp machines as well
