How do I reset a motherboard to factory setting?

anansiman
A man says he was trying to flash the bios on a DP35DP intel motherboard, and the computer went thru a series of checks, but when he went to re-boot the computer, all he got was a blinking line in the upper left hand corner of the monitor. Is there a way to reset this motherboard?
Please help!

If the Flash has gone badly then you'll need to replace the BIOS Chip.

You used to be able to buy replacement BIOS Chips at Mr BIOS but I'm not sure that they are in business any longer. When updating any Server Board I used to always buy replacement BIOS Chips and fit them rather than run the risk of taking a Server out of action if something went wrong with the Flash. But I have not seen anything from Mr BIOS for a long time now.

You could try BIOS Central but I'm not sure if they supply replacement BIOS Chips.

I was trying to follow intel's manual for the motherboard, but it is still not allowing me to open the bios. This might be the only solution to solve this one.

Turn on your computer and press the key on your keyboard to enter the BIOS. This is typically the Del (delete) key. Pre-built systems from major manufacturers may use a function key such as F1, F2, or F10.

If you enter in BIOS there is option for reset fectory setting.

second option is CMOS jumper but be very careful when working on the inside of your computer, as electrostatic discharge can easily destroy sensitive components. Make sure that you are properly grounded before working inside the computer.

Find the CMOS jumper remove the jumper may be labeled CLEAR, CLR, CLEAR CMOS, PSSWRD, or a variety of other labels. Refer to your motherboard's documentation to find the correct jumper. Press and hold the power button on your computer for about 10-15 seconds

Thank you for that help, nencywillims! I will try this but so far I still can't get into the bios. Maybe I will have to try the CMOS jumper.
