But generally speaking Write Protection involves moving a sliding switch to either the Open Position to allow the ability to write/delete files from a Thumb Drive, or moving the switch tot he closed position to prevent reading/writing to the device.

    Drive Without an External Switch
Step 1Turn on your computer and plug in the drive after your operating system has loaded.
Step 2Open "My Computer" and search the list of drives until you find your USB drive letter.
Step 3Right-click on the name and click "Properties." Once the options have loaded, go through the tabs until you see the option to remove write protection. If this does not work, go to the next step.
Step 4Visit the company website for your USB drive. Go to the help or support section and search for "write protection."
Step 5Click on the download section and search for "write protection software remover." Download the program and install it on your computer.
Step 6Open the software program. Go to "Option" and click "Remove Write Protection" to unlock your USB drive.

Notice - the original answer doesn't mention anything about a Transcend drive!
