How to tell which drive is bad in Raid 0

nebheprura
Posted previously about Raid 0 setup with two drives failing. I was wondering is there a way to determine which drive of the two is the one that failed? Would need to know so can replace the bad one instead of buying two more.

Making sure S.M.A.R.T. is enabled in the BIOS, see if it detects a bad drive. If you are 100% sure data is lost, put them both in another system, format them and run chdsk on them. Download the software from the HD manufacturer that checks the disks for failures.

BTW, What makes you think it's a HW failure and not a corrupt RAID config or parttion?

I just spoke to him and he said when he tried to boot up computer, message came on saying error with disk array, then later message was "no operating system found". Hope this helps. I don't know much about Raid usage so glad you can help.
