HP Laser Printer Defaults for auto page selection

r_c_schmidt
I have an Access application that requires the printer continue button to be pressed to start printing reports unless the manual feed tray is open and then it prints as it should. Access options only address margins for client apps. I need to know why it doesn't auto print from the regular tray when the manual tray is closed (tray 1) and bottom tray (tray 2) is loaded with the paper size required for report.

The application is Microsoft Access 2010. The only printer options available are in the Client options and those are only the top, bottom, right, and left margins. I believe that the issue may be the print driver (PCL5 versus PCL6) as the issue does not exist on non-laser printers that do NOT have multiple paper trays (in the case of my problem, there are two trays on a laser printer with one of the trays being the manual feed tray that opens on the front of the printer when needed).

at least I have seen this on an hp 4015 printer, go into the printer config from the panel on the printer and make sure the manual tray is not set as the default paper tray.
