Hp Printer 'USB device not recognised'

j_walk44
I have an HP Photosmart 2575 Printer on a Win XP SP2 system which worked fine for a month or so but now throws up the message 'USB device not recognised, a USB device attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it'.
I have uninstalled & re-installed the printer & tried all the USB ports. I've also installed the printer on another machine & it worked fine.

Reinstall the chipset drivers and any other motherboard driver

Found a very simple solution for this. I just shut down the PC, unplugged the mains power completely for 5 mins & booted back up. This apparently allows any residual current in the motherboard/USB ports to disperse. Really didn't think it would work but it did.

I'm wondering if your HP printer has continued to work. I'm having a heck of a time getting mine to stay "recognized" by the USB port.

I'm having the same problem with a HP printer, and i've already tried in 2 different PC with XP and it's not working in any. Any help or tips?

I've had this issue with several different hp printers
When I've used the hp installation disk I do not have the issue.(When the customer has it)
But trying to install with down loaded drives from hp it seems like I encounter this far too often and need to use a serial cable to complete the install and have not found a work around yet.
