I can't connect to my wireless internet on my laptop?

wolfy24
My computer shows that it is connected to my wireless network, but then also says it is currently connected to an unidentified network with no internet access? All of my other wireless things on the network work and my desktop which is plugged into the modem. I've tried troubleshooting but it keeps leading my back to unplugging my router and plugging it back in. Any suggestions?

Well, the problem could be that you tried to connect to this unidentified network in the past and now it could be defaulting to this location. I know there are certain networks that my cell and laptop's wi-fi, that used to automatically connect to these unidentified networks. Another possible problem could be your drivers. Maybe you should look into that. I've heard of this problem before and basically Windows 7 was automatically installing a driver for their wireless card and it was somehow interrupting their internet connection.

What you can try is to remove / delete that wireless network and change the priority of the network to the one setup with your router. That way it will look for your own network by default and everything else will be secondary.

I also had similar problem. It can happen when you have connected to some other public wi-fi system while on travel where it would have detected automatically the gateway and IP addresses of public wi-fi, which will have to be reset while trying on your home router by going into the properties dialogue box and setting the security key afresh.
