    Outlook Menu Bar
    Tools\Options\Preferences Tab\Junk Email\
Clear the check mark from the box next to "Don't turn on links in messages..."

Then check the Email Options on the same tab and clear the check mark from "Read all standard mail in Plain Text."

Also, try CTRL+click when clicking on a link in a message.

I tried the suggestion . . . I had no success, but maybe there is a problem with the direction since I have Vista.

sorry, I'm not on Vista, yet-but a few quick checks might give us more info to help you.

what version of Outlook are you using? (Help/About Outlook)

what security settings are you using? (my path is Tools/Options, select Security tab)

when you right-click on the shortcut, what options are displayed?

what is the default browser on your computer? are you having any problems browsing?

    Jerry,
Outlook 2003 11.8313.8221 sp3 on WindowsXP Tablet Edition
    You asked:
    1. What security settings are you using? (my path is Tools/Options, select Security tab) Send clear text checked. Security Zone - Restricted Sites. (I switched to Internet to try it but still opens Outlook when I click a link in an email)

    2. When you right-click on the shortcut, what options are displayed?
    Greyed out:
    Copy
    Save Picture As
    Save Background As
    Edit Message
    Look Up
    Translate
    Properties
    Blackened clickable:
    Select All
    View Source

    3. What is the default browser on your computer? IE8 version 8.0.6001.18702 Update Versions: 0

    4. Are you having any problems browsing? None

I have tried all of the ideas mentioned at this site:
    http://email.about.com/od/outlooktips/qt/et_fix_links.htm
For some weird reason, I can't log in to About.com which I have done in the past, so I cannot ask Heinz to help me with this same issue that he addressed. But that no-log in issue is another problem ...
And how can I add a link for this discussion to My Workspace dropdown at the top right of this page so I can find this posting easily?

Thanks! Something that you suggested must have fixed my issue because it is working now!
