So... How did you choose an answer? I assume there's some kind of option to you as the OP? I wonder if you can choose more than one answer if multiple answers are correct/helpful?

You get this button that allows you to choose the correct answer.

I'd expect to you it shows "Chosen answer" in a green square on the right side of the post, right above the voting button.

Would be to hire a competent professional to resolve the issue.

Whether your definition of 'itch' refers to a specific temporary dermatological condition, a physical manifestation of a deeper psychological issue, or a more general yearning for something different -these are only questions you and the aforementioned professional can answer. The scope and nature of the duties performed by said professional would need to be aligned with what you define as the 'itch' and they would provide said services to emulate what what you would consider to be 'a scratch'.

Steven Wright:

My girlfriend and I went on a picnic. I don't know how she did it, but she got poison ivy on the brain. When it itched, the only way she could scratch it was to think about sandpaper.

A trail of tuna over the area you wish to have scratched in concert with a hungry feline with claws intact may resolve the situation nicely.

Or that could end very badly.

I've got a cat with seven claws on each front foot, so you seriously don't want him anywhere near soft human tissue.

In tailoring a solution for your needs, we need to know why you cannot scratch the itch.

Can't reach it?
Doing so is against medical advice?
It is internal?
The itch is on someone else?

Compiz-Fusion. Amusing. As seen on TV.

TFI, I was amused by Compiz_Fusion effects on this LXDE desktop, but it was nothing I've ever actually sought out. Kind of scratched an itch, so to speak, but an itch that was only present at the time of scratching.
