    OH Smeg

But start with the easy things.

Does the USB Lead have 2 Sockets that plug into the Computer? If it does the Second Socket is a Power Plug not a Data Plug you need both to be plugged into the Computer to make the Drive readable.

Has this drive ever worked with this computer?

Do you hear any noise from the computer when you plug the drive in?

Does the case of the drive have a space to plug in an External Power Plug?

Have you tried an external Power Pack if the Enclosure supports it?

Is the USB Lead damaged in any way?

Have you tried another USB Lead with this drive?

Have you tried another USB Socket on your computer?

Do you have a USB Hub here and was the drive plugged into it?

Have you tried it on another computer to see if it actually works?

If the drive worked previously with this computer did you use the Safely Remove Option to Dismount the Drive?

That's the starting point to work from so if you would like to post back with answers to the above we can work from there.
