Is it OK if my domain controller is linux client & file servers is windows?

my organization's application servers are windows based so as with my clients (windows 2000, windows xp, and windows 7). will using linux as my domain controller not jeopardize my network system's performance?

The domain controller normally is not the bottleneck on most networks.

I could be wrong, but the biggest risk would not be performance but whether you could make it all work. I would assume that this would be much more difficult than simply using a Windows server for that. Linux is great for lots of things, but I would question whether the risk/benefit is there in this case.
