Is there a free ready to use helpdesk software?

elisamark8
I am, head of the IT department of a non-profit organization with around 75 employees. Our services are growing rapidly and we are in need of a helpdesk software which would not need customization to suit our needs. The reason being we don't wish to hire analysts or buy servers. As we are in the non profit industry, preferable would be free software. Any suggestion?

the IT experience of your staff/volunteers and how complex you want it to be. One of the biggest pains is creating user manual, either printed or online.

But then most of my recent volunteer service has been with a MAR (Microsoft Authorised Refurbisher). So all the volunteers are IT trained!

liberum is very easy to install and configure. It is basic, but functional, but best of all its free. It is written in ASP.

I've just started testing SysAid myself. So far, it'll do what we need.

Another free one I found while searching was Omni Help Desk, but I never could get it to install and when I emailed them for help, the email was bounced. Could have been a system glitch, but I didn't give them a second chance.

I would recommend SysAid. We use it here and we have about 70 employees also and it works a treat.

Elisa, maybe you could try Pathworks software. It is a Free web based helpdesk service. It is also easy to use and has customizable fields. Pathworks also has a guided self service portal. It can also be scaled according to your company?s requirements. It has automatic updates. For more information, you could visit their site at www.pathworkssoftware.com
