Laptop HDD > IDE to SATA (internal solution)?

Masterkyle
I've seen a few posts that are close to this but not one directly related.
I've replaced a motherboard in a Insperion 9300. The old motherboard had an IDE HDD connection point - and the new motherboard has a SATA HDD connection point.
It seems the board was switched from on eto the other halfway through the life of the unit production.
I know that I have seen a piece of hardware before that would allow you to change the HDD from IDE to SATA - but I can not find this piece anywhere. Has anyone ever heard of this piece? I'm not sure what the technical name would be, but ultimately it would be an adapter piece that would fit on the end of the HDD that would convert it from an IDE to SATA?
The piece that I'm familiar with works a bit like this;
I was able to remove this little black adapter piece on the end of the HDD, revealing 43? pins. There was another piece that looked identical, except for the fact that instead of it being IDE, it was SATA. You would then be able to put this piece on the end of the HDD, and plug it into the new board. So in other words, it wasn't an adapter that plugged into the IDE port, that then converted the drive into SATA - you were able to remove the IDE connector completely and then apply the SATA connector.
Has anyone ever had any experience with this? Can you tell me where to find this piece?
Thanks in advance!
