Lenovo (IBM) T-series Security Chip - recovery

PaulQ
Apparently I have forgotten my security chip password. I can activate it but anytime I want to use it, it requests password confirmation and I have tried everything I thought it was. Since I don't know the correct password, it won't encrypt anything.

I went through a BIOS procedure that was supposed to clear the chip but it didn't work. It asked me for a new password but then it won't take it later.

Since I luckily have nothing encrypted under the password and my login is not connected to it, I just stopped using it. Everything is accessible. It's been like this for months.

It worked at one point and I would just like to regain control of it. I have heard that I have to send it to Lenovo to be fixed. Is there any other option?

Again, not suffering here but would prefer to have a secure login again.

Thanks!

P.S. Clearing the password does not unencrypt data so this wouldn't be a way to steal information. In fact, any data encrypted under one password needs that one password.

first of all the T series security chip is a very important part in the motherboard.it works like a second bios with the only diference that this one it can't be changed.so even if u try to call the ibm they wont do anything for you because the security chip is unique, its made just for your motherboard and it cant be cracked, cant be changed(this would make your motherboard out of use).so remember the answers of the questions you 've written down in the case you forget the pswd and try to reset the pswd by the submenu of the forgotten pswd by giving the 3 correct answers.Otherwise leave it stay.its not for you.
