Linking Excel to Outlook e-mails

gardenhawk
I've been a member for sometime, but has been quite a while since I have worked this indepth with Office Suite. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give about this.

I am setting up an Excel spreadsheet which has information for individuals. Is there a way to link the individuals in the spreadsheet to any e-mails (especially multiple e-mails) received in Outlook, particularly single archived files set up in Outlook for each individual? I don't expect that it would do this automatically, but I'm not really clear as to how I could make it work. Is there an efficient way to do this, or do I need to save the e-mails as a document, make a file for each individual, and then link the spreadsheet to the file?

I found a way to do it: drag the msg from outlook and drop it on to an empty Word doc, it will show as an envelope icon. Then you drag that icon from Word onto Excel. Done. Now when you double click on that icon in Excel you'll see the email. I'm not sure if it's a copy or a link, test it yourself.
The only thing is that in Excel the icon is not contained in a cell, it can move freely anywhere between the cells. So that's a drawback. Until Microsoft improve this feature.

This is an old thread, but maybe someone is still looking for this.
I use the free Outlook Linker tool from Teamscope to link outlook items to several programs i use regularly (Excel, Ecco). It's a manual process, but you could probably write a macro if you had a repetitive function. Depending on the program and the need, you can create the links in different formats.

I suggest you to export all your contacts in excel spreadsheet to outlook contacts folder. This will help you to send/receive emails for your contacts easily. Also, you can create distribution list in Outlook for instant emailing. To do this take the help of systools Excel to Outlook, as it is meant for contacts conversion from xls to pst address book.
