login to PC only if network cable is unplugged

alecia.johnson
I have several users that are unable to log into their PC if the network cable is plugged in. If they take the cable out then they can log into the PC. After they are in, they plug the cable back in and they can access everything they need. We have added the PCs back to the domain and they work correctly. A few days later, they call back with the same problem. Any ideas? These are all Dell Latitude laptops with either Windows 2000 or XP.

    Hi guys,
I'm getting exactly the same issue on a Dell Laptop! He can only log on when no network cable is plugged in! However he also had no access to network directory printers. I found that disabling the Symantec firewall / security software let me access the printers, it also progressed me slightly on the network log in and made the user aware his password had expired (me resetting all passwords the night before). It still didn't let him log on though.

I think, it is the firewall causing the issues. I'm going to remove it and will let you know if I can log in.
