Moved Outlook, I know I need to change archive.pst

avalonmusictx
I have had this problem in the past and I know there is a simple solution. I have moved outlook to a new computer, and I know I need to do something so outlook will start and recognize the archive.pst. Can you please let me know what action is necessary?
Thanks!

From what I am gathering you installed Outlook, and now you want the archive on the new system... Copy the .pst from the hidden directory and move it over to the new PC... if you want to move the old settings and contacts pull the .ost over also.... Or just copy the entire hidden directory over to the new machine... run Outlook and it should run like it was on the old machine...

    avalonmusictx,

If your E-Mail is on an Exchange server and you are running Outlook in Cached Exchange mode the .OST would re-create itself.
If your E-Mail is saved in a .PST file, you would have to copy that over to your current profile

Once you move the .PST to your profile, you can either open the .PST,
File > Open > Outlook Data File.

Or import it into your current folder structure or a sub-folder of your folders.

    C:\Users\yourusername\Appdata\local\Microsoft\Outlook

    C:\Documents and Settings\Yourusername\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
