MS DHCP Server in a VLAN Environment

arshij
I am segmenting my LAN in to 7-8VLANs, including VLAN 1 which hosts most of the servers and DHCP. I have tried to configure Cisco switches using "IP Helper-Address" & "IP DHCP Relay" commands but no success. Can someone share his experience with us to resolve this issue?

1.use multiscpoe option in MS DHCP Server.
2.Create 7 or 8 scopes on the dhcp server with address pools like "192.168.1.0/24 ,192.168.2.0/24,....for each vlan.
3.create vlan interfaces on the router for each vlan, assign ip addresses and masks to the interfaces according to your DHCP scopes.
4.configre "ip healper address" on the router/L3 switch.
    5. you are done.

sunu is right, gotta have a layer 3 device [router] to "route" traffic between vlans

Cisco's term for this is "router on a stick"
