from Win7 "WinKey + r" (run command) type \\IP_of_XP\ > enter. It should show all of XP's shares, as long as you have your shares set up properly, including the printer.

if that works, you will then have to go into your router and set XP to static, so the address does not change.

Lower the authentication level W7 uses by following the directions below.

Click Start, Run and type secpol.msc and press Enter, run it as administrator if required.

Under Local Policies\Security Options

Change the value of Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level from NTVLM2 responses only to LM and NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.

After struggling for 2 days reading all kinds of fora your solution got the result in less than two minutes. Thanks so much!

I do not want to be greedy, but... Where did you find this info?

Thanks, Jo

? 1If you haven't already setup your Homegroup, you can learn how to do so by following the step by step tutorial in the Resource section below.
? 2First, click on Start and go to your "Control Panel."
? 3From the Control Panel select "Choose homegroup and sharing options."
? 4If you are already on the network with a homegroup, the Next screen will identify that a Homegroup has already been set up. Click the "Join now" button to join the homegroup.
? 5On the next screen, select the folders you want to share with your homegroup. Note that "Documents" is not selcted by default. You can add or remove different files and folders later. Click Next when you are ready.
? 6On the next screen type the password that was generated when you created the Homegroup. Click Next.

? 7Congratulations, you've joined a homegroup. Just click "Finish."
