NetMeeting

Can I access my friends computer using netmeeting on the internet? How?

1. Both have dsl connection.
2. Not in local network

    1. You need to configure the call receiving party's netmeeting for remote desktop sharing. See netmeeting help for that.

    2. Then you should know the IP address of the DSL modem that is assigned by ISP. You can get to know that simply by going to www.whatismyip.com from the computer receiving the call.

    3. Try dialing your netmeeting to that IP and see if the receiving computer gets a call.

    If that does'nt happen, means the call receiving end modem is configured to assign some local IP address to the receiving computer and IP we discovered in step 2 is only assigned to modem itself.

    In this case assign a URL/IP forwarding in that modem configuration. That is done usually by accessing the configuration website on the modem typically accessible through http://192.168.1.1 . See the modem documentation for detail.
