Your IP address is assigned by your ISP, and by typing in manually another address, you'll most certainly will have problems connecting to the net. When you go into the properties box, clear all the address, subnet mask etc fields and click on the radio button that says 'Assign IP address automatically'. Same goes for the other one for DNS. Your computer will then search the network and hopefully you will be able to connect. May I make a suggestion? If you're now using fedora core, try Mozilla instead of IE as your browser, its quite good.
