You have used the names of 3 different applications Quattro Pro, Access, Excel and then said that you want to read something in XP. XP is an Operating System not a File Reader so you need some kind of application to read whatever it is that you want to look at.

So what is it that you want to do here?

Convert Quattro Pro Files to Excel, Quattro Pro Files to Access or do you just want to read Excel/Access/Quattro Pro Files in something other than what made them?

These are programs that run on several different Platforms including Windows XP as such they need nothing done to them to be able to be read on a Windows XP System. But you do need the application that reads then be that Excel, Access or Quattro Pro.

If you want to read the files in a application that isn't the original application you need to use the converters that are available from the Application Maker. If that is M$ the converters are on the Office Install Disc or the Access Install Disc or the Excel Disc if you are using stand alone applications.

If you are looking at using Office 97 to read the files there is a Reader that is on the Office Install Disc that will allow you to install it onto another system to read the files though you will not be able to edit them with that add on.

Quattro Pro by default installs the converters to allow the importation of file formats that it didn't create.

Of course you'll need a Floppy Drive as well but I'm assuming that isn't a problem.

So insert the Floppy open Excel and open the file that is on the floppy you may need to change the lower dialog box to All Files instead of the default and when you click on the file you should be prompted with a message that this isn't a Native File for Excel do you want to install the converter or words to that effect at least. Insert the Office Install Disc and chose the Yes Option.

If you no longer have easy access tot he Office Disc you can download the converters from M$ Office Site.
