Replacing a User Profile

ireaneus
What is the best method in removing a corrupted User's profile but keeping their files, including IE, FF Favorites and History.

It seems User profiles start to get very large and some IE settings get corrupt or changed. It seems it would be easier to just create a new profile and just keep their files.

Any ideas, Pros and Cons about this idea?

To have the new profile created as the old, copy the folder contents to the default user profile. Desktop\Favorites\MyDocuments etc. Rename the corrupt profile under Documents and settings. When the user logs in the new profile will have the content in each area copied to.

You can also copy the favorites/MyDocuments etc. To another location, rename the corrupt profile. Then copy back once the user logs in and creates a new empty profile.

Be aware that when you copy the contents to the default user profile The first login will take longer as it has to copy over the contents, so be patient.
