Script to Set Dual Monitor Display Settings in Vista

mackenzie
With the enormous amount of posts going around the internet about people having issues with dual monitors while using Vista, I've seen nobody suggest a way to write a script that will load your settings how you like them on boot or by clicking the script file to run it.

The problem is, when using an external monitor with a laptop, the settings will not hold when you unhook your laptop and plug it back in at a later time. You have to redesignate your primary and secondary monitors and reset what programs you want to open on the 2nd monitor and so on.

Is there a way to configure these settings in a script? I know about Ultramon and would prefer to not purchase that as a solution.

This seems like a logical workaround until nVidia or Windows figures this problem out and releases a fix or updated driver to solve this.

Thanks for your help.

for no reason. I can go to lunch and when I log back in it will have changed. It also remembers my settings sometimes after I hook it back up the next day.
