Server 2012 password protected access

panoramix
Situation with a server 2012 on a workgroup: no domain, no active ditrectory, sole role is file server.
Users can access the shared folder.
Is it possible to create for each user an individual folder, only accessible by them with a logon (username, password) from any machine in the workgroup WITHOUT macking them users on the server. If yes, where do you enter the credentials on the server.
Thanks

You're last question pretty much answers your main one. How can you set per-user permissions on the server if the server doesn't know about your users? The answer is you can't. You either have to add users individually to the server with the same usernames and passwords as used to log on to each PC, or set up active directory.
