mcdonalddw
I am the administrator of a sharepoint. When my users open the sharepoint I have a contact list that they want to "Link to Outlook" but they cannot see the button. Now, when they logon on my pc, they can see the button.
Our configuration is as follows:

Office XP
Outlook 2003
Windows XP SP2
Sharepoint Services 2.0

    Hi Mate,

I had the same problem and i updated the service packs of office XP and it seemed to fix it.

Although i'm using Sharepoint 3.0, so not sure how much difference there is?

I'm not sure, we had the problem on some workstations and others were fine. There all working now, and all I did was update Office and it seemed to spring into life, sorry i can't be of any more help.

I would upgrade to version 3.0 though

I have been plagued with the same problem for months. One day the 'Link to Outlook" button was there and now I noticed that it isn't. I don't know when it disappeared. It really bothers me that some staff have this feature and some don't. There is no obvious reason (to me) for this. Some XP and 2K users have it, some don't. I suspect some Office 2007 software (Visio, Project, or Expression), the Office 2007 .docx compatibility update for Office 2003, Office 2003 SP3 or some other update. I have had other Office 2007 applications break functionality with SharePoint. Particularly the .docx compatibility update and the OWSSUPP.DLL file. Who knows what is causing the "Link to Outlook" button to "not" appear. The missing button sounds all too Microsoft to me, but I have absolutely no Idea why or how to get it back. Running Office Detect and Repair failed, re-installing SharePoint Services Support files failed as well. Any information you have to add would be much appreciated.

    Linkless and Frustrated.

p.s. There is a related thread on a msdn forum having additional information: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1803678&SiteID=1 I have been unsuccessful and unreplied in that forum and thought I would try here.

Environment: SharePoint, Office 2003, Project 2007, Visio 2007, (Office 2007 trial), Intending to keep Office 2003

Symptom: "Link to Outlook Button" is Missing from a contact list in a SharePoint website.

    Solution:
    1. I removed Windows SharePoint Services Support from this software
Project 2007, Visio 2007, (or any other Office 2007 software), Office 2003 SharePoint Services Support
    2. I deleted the 2007 version of OWSSUPP.DLL from /Office12
    3. I Reinstalled Office 2003 SharePoint Services Support

Results: The Link to Outlook button is available and it works.

As I suspected, this has to do with Office 2007 products. It appears that SharePoint doesn?t know what to do when two versions of SharePoint Services Support is installed.

    ?and there was much rejoicing!
