I pay a monthly subscription for TechRepublic Pro, and I continually am asked to join (again?) before I can download the promised 'field manual.' Your link above is dead as well.

I just joined TR Pro so I could get the Field Manual. Everytime I try to download it, it wants me to join TR Pro again, and again.....
How do I download it now that I'm a TR Pro subscriber?

TR Pro is a paid subscription. Joining TR isn't enough. Perhaps, if you paid for the subscription, it might take a little time to varify your payment. To expidite things, you might consider contacting TR through the feedback link on the bottom of every page. They don't really read these forums close, so your post could be missed.

I'm a TR Pro also, I can get the file and view the flenames in winrar; but it is still an invalid archive. You suggested that it takes a while before you were recognised. How long is a while?

Beth Blakely's name and send her a private message. You may notice her name below your post.

Beth is not customer support, she's the moderator. Don't tell her I sent you and don't **** her off as you will end up on her SSHIT list.

I am a TR Pro member and I was able to download the Field Manual without a problem using your link. What happens when you try to download it?

Who at TR did you contact?
How long have you been a TR Pro member?

I found that I had a lapse in my Pro acct because of a mandated change in a credit card number. After reinstatement, voila! My bad. Download good.

Are people relying on Field Manuals now in the IT industry? What have we come to? This isn't McDonalds where you can run the store based off of a cookie cutter binder. This is IT! Most problems are different, everyday!

.... memory isn't what it used to be. The CRS disease is rampant among the IT community. So, having all of those tips-n-tricks written down in one place where we can glance at them to "refresh our memory" isn't such a bad idea!

I am still reading the documents that were included in this download because I just purchased the download about an hour ago (05.07.10 @ 11:30 AM). I have examined the following three (3) of forty-three (43) PDF's (there are also six (6) Word Documents, three (3) Excel Spreadsheets, and one (1) Powerpoint Presentation):

    Top Ten Ways to
    Secure Active Directory

Top Ten Ways to Secure DNS

    Protecting Windows 2003 Data

The aforementioned three documents were far from helpful; they were simply definitions of different tasks and technologies an Administrator could perform in order to achieve what the title of the document is.

Contrastingly, the documents do provide you with such tasks and technologies that are resourceful, HOWEVER, there are no directions and/or steps indicating how to perform these actions. It seems that you would have to obtain the idea that you didn't already think of from one or all of these documents, then generate an online search query and/or a Microsoft search in order to resolve the issue(s) of actually executing the idea.

Furthermore, the links that were provided in the documents that I have read thus far are apparently dead links. I realize that this product was made available several years ago by TechRepublic, but if they are going to continue to sell this download (especially at such an outrageous price), then it is my opinion that the content should be updated.

I will continue to examine the included documents in this download, but I am anticipating much redundancy in terms of sub-brief content, short and incomplete descriptions and lack thereof, and dead links.

If I find content that contradicts my statements and/or proves to be useful while at the same time providing clear direction on how to obtain the useful goal, I will most certainly indicate so on this thread with an update.

    Thanks!

The original question was posted two years ago. Guess it's less actual by now. Especially when taking into account the recent posts, commenting the quality of sa(i)d document.
