Thinkpad T60 Fingerprint Error

Hi, everybody; I actually have been problems with my T60 because the fingerprint software says that an internal error occured and i can't enter to the system using the scanner

The error code is: "-1001" and the description says: "An internal error occured (pt: tfmerr -1001)"

Anybody can help me??

    As well as the fingerprint reader you should have a Password to by pass the Finger Print Reader and if you can not use the Password you really need to talk to Lenovo as these have a Security Chip built onto the M'Board rendering it pointless to remove the HDD and read it in a USB Caddy on a different computer. No Security Chip no access to readable Data and in most cases even the HDD. These just appear as unaccessible and can not be even seen unless you have an identical computer to read them in.

    Thanks a lot, but i tried with the specifications that says in there and the problem continues.
    I know my password but what i want is use the fingerprint reader, another solution??

    You can then test the Fingerprint reader to see if it is actually working. If it fails to recognize a new Finger Print on a different finger you know that you have a Hardware Issue that requires a trip to the Service Center.

    If it works on the test but fails to open Windows you can then backup all your Data and Settings and then using the Recovery Disc reload the system with a Clean Factory Install of the Software. Then if it is still working you can add any additional Software that you have installed one at a time till it is either completely loaded or the Fingerprint Reader stops working again. It's quite possible that you have a software conflict which has corrupted the files required by the hardware to recognize the Finger Prints. It's also quite possible that there has been a hardware failure that has rendered the Finger Printer Reader unworkable.

    As you have said that this has been a ongoing issue it's pointless to attempt looking at any changes that where made before the system started playing up. So you have to work with what you know and what is the best way to proceed. If the Finger Print Reader has broken all the software tinkering in the works will not make it work again.

    The Password is included to allow the use of the system when the Biometric Reader fails or is otherwise affected and no longer works.

    Without that option you would be stuck without a way to access the computer or your Data.
