Trust Relationship Issue related to xp professional

Here's the situation. A client was running a windows nt4 system. After a surge through the network, the server was replaced with a Dell server running 2003 server, small business. All the current workstations connected to the server fine. Over time, the event log shows several trust errors related to the workstation connecting to the new server. A message stated about a security ID needed to be reset. One solution was to disconnect the workstation from the domain, then rejoin the domain after a shut down. So this was done by changing from a domain to a workgroup, then rejoin the domain after a shutdown. IT work on one workstation, but Had to redo the user profile. Any suggestions?
