I would give it a try. If it does what it say it does then it is a good thing to have.
As for being free this is also a good thing since it is Open Source & Free Under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.
If this information is useful, please mark as helpful. Thanks.

    How come it is free?

This is software released under the GPL Licensing system which means that they supply the software free but there may be a cost involved for support just like Pay For Software but this time you don't have to make an initial outlay for the product just pay for any required support.

As Support is On Going and Buying Software is a One Time Only Purchase Some places consider it better to allow free access to their software and get a ongoing Support Fees for the life of the product. M$ is currently talking about doing this with a Subscription version of Office where you pay a monthly fee to use it's products. The software company makes more money this way and M$ defiantly need to increase their income. :^0

Anything I should be concerned about putting it on our network?

There are 2 versions of this software one runs on Windows XP and the other requires it's own hardware to run on at the Gateway to the Network so provided that you use the correct installation there should be no problem involved here. Though if you have an Agreement with M$ to be a M$ only Shop the use of the Gateway Product will Invalidate your Agreement with M$ as you will be introducing a Linux Gateway to the Network to isolate the Insecure Windows System/s from the Dangerous World Wide Web. But if you don't have an agreement with M$ there is no issue.

I haven't personally used this product but I use a similar product and it's so good that it is almost safe enough to run Windows without any form of Security. It's easy to setup and keep ruining and just works in the background generally without the need to even remember that it's there for normal use. There is no weekly reboots involved, reboots once a month when Updates become available the constant need to download updates and install them in any sort of order. Generally speaking it's a set and forget solution once you have the system working the way that you want it to work though once a year I do need to check the UPS Batteries to see if they are going off.

    Am I too suspicious?

Yes you are but this isn't necessarily a bad thing just the fact that you use Windows makes this necessary.
