WBS and Project life cycle

iyadsalehsaadeh
To start a new project for a well known industry you find that we have a ready project life cycle methodology with defined phases and deliverables so you can proceed and build your schedule based on that. On the other hand if you choose to start with building the WBS and follow the PMI advise to build a deliverable oriented logical hierarchy, you will end up with different structure to build your schedule. My questions, is this a conflict? How to proceed? and why?
Thanks

look at the project then pick the most suitable lifecycle for it.
Deliverable oriented lifecycle's pre-suppose that the project can be broken up into phases of usable deliverables.
Some projects can fit this model, others won't at all. Some you can mess about and do things out of their logical order, often necessitating rework.
Saying always using delivery oriented lifecycles is as dumb as always using, waterfall.
There is no best lifecycle, there is the most suitable one.
