web mail connection problem

lgamoran
I have trouble connecting to my "yahoo" email account from work, I get a message from Sentian's firewall stating that I cannot access the site, as webmail is blocked. The IT folks say that it is not blocked, and also other folks in the office can access their email. In addition, there are weeks that I can get on as well as, there being times that I can get on, but get kicked off after a while. The IT folks have basically, looked at it, shrugged their shoulders and said "I don't know". As they are most likely swamped with other more pressing issues, that answer probably means that they don't have the time to give to resolve that issue. Any ideas as to what may be the problem?
DELL PC
Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80 GHz 2.79 GHz
.99 GB RAM
Microsoft Windows Pro 2002 Service Pack 2
Also, as I have no permission to do anything at the server level, I was just able to read off a screen that we are apprently running some version of WINNT.

It would seem that the "IT folks" either do not understand your question or they are not sure of an answer. The firewall IS blocking the site and unless someone "unblocks" access to it, you are out of luck. Depends on how important your webmail is on how far "up the latter" you are willing to look.
    Taking info from www.securecomputing.com:
"Sentian software delivers high performance global filtering by IP and IP range, with your choice of centralized or remote administration and the ability to customize block and allow lists. Installation is quick and easy, leveraging LDAP and Active Directory."
Sorry no real help, only info. I hope it was informative.

I think that they may not know the answer and have little time to worry about it as there are 8 IT folks for an entire school district just loaded with pc's, peripherals and networks that are not all quite the same and probably require a lot of work to maintain. I imagine that they don't have much time for this problem as it is not a high priority. I was kind of hoping that I could figure it out for myself, "Oh well". Thanks for the info.
