weird display issue - desktop not filling monitor window when undocked

lafor
I have a new, weird issue with my IBM T60 laptop. When docked, everything works/looks fine, however when I undock my system the deskptop/whole display is a smaller square and does not fill up the entire monitor anymore. I have checked display settings for 1 and 2 and set them to 1024X768 but no change...this is driving me crazy in meetings - please help!

We've noticed quirks with IBM laptops when using the 'approved' video drivers from Microsoft (ex: bluescreen when resuming from suspend!). Pop out to Lenovo and get their latest driver for your unit.

If you have an ATI Mobile Radeon, you can set up hardware profiles in the ATI Catalyst Control Center, then drop shortcuts to those profiles on your desktop. Configure and save a profile that looks right for when your laptop isn't docked. When the screen is too small, try launching that profile to see if it fixes the problem.
