    The ability of an operating system to execute different parts of a program, called threads, simultaneously. The programmer must carefully design the program in such a way that all the threads can run at the same time without interfering with each other.

    I respond because their is an expectation that when anyone asks a question, they have exhausted their avenues of research. Anyone who comes to any forum and asks the type of question where the information is simply a click away, deserves to get a few flames.

    Now if the post was;

    I have been reading the white papers at Intel and AMD about multi-threading and I just don't get it. They would probably have gotten a much more positive reponse.

    Bottom line is, its pretty obvious when students come here to ask their homework questions. Their are sites that specialize in that and this is usually not one of them.
