What is the simplest way to put a digital signature in a PDF?

dartonion
We need to digitally sign a PDF document.
Currently we print it out, sign manually & then scan it back in. This is obviously dumb.

How can a put a digital signature on the doucument? The signature needs to be difficult to fake. or at least idetifiable as to the login ID of who signed it. The native acrobat signatures seem to easily create a signature with any credentials. We need something a bit more challenging than that, but not complete legally enforceable signatures - it is only for internal documents.

What is the simplest way to achieve this?

The "Simplest" way to put a signature in a PDF file is to scan it as an image, like JPG or TIFF, and then just paste it in as-needed.

    Simple, not secure at all.

Yes, they're easy to create too, but they're much more secure that just pasting a picture.

"it is only for internal documents."

So what do you really want - simple or secure? Internal documents could just be annotated /s/John Doe or "(signed) John Doe"

    So what's the real issue?

You can prefer an electronic version of your signature from a scanner then use a professional pdf form filler or editing tool to insert is as an image onto the sign area. I often do that
