What website do I upload my home made blu ray movie?

mathisdispatch
I made an independent film in blu ray, so that means it's 50 gigs. I want to upload it to a website and be able to share the video on facebook with all of my friends. What are my options?

A 50 Gigabyte BlueRay movie would be 4.5 Hours of HD footage. Is that what you have?

But you should be aware anything you post/share on Face Book when you post/share it it becomes the propriety of FB are you aware of that?

Humm, that's something to think about there.

i think if he/she uploads it directly to fb, then it technically becomes their property. I think they do this so they can manage the content any way they wish.

i think the poster is safe, if they use a different site to upload. they could look into rapidshare, megaupload, media fire to enable a file download. premium account may be required. Otherwise, you'l need to find a site that converts the video.

or you could buy some webspace. godaddy.com or rackspace.com come to mind

also bittorent is available, but inefficient if less than 20 users are not constantly uploading.

not a movie format, so you want to share your movie on Facebook, they have a limit of 1 gig or 20 minutes for their video uploads.

If you want to share more content I would suggest YouTube as the upload point, I am not sure if they have a size limit, but I watched a 1 hour 20 minute move there a while ago so that may very well work for you.

If you want to share the quality of the Blu-ray format with your friends, have them over for a viewing, or mail them copies of the Blu-ray disc.

I think that might just work for me. Awesome. Thank you.

MisterKalas:

You videos must be up to 15 minutes in length, where noted after you click the Upload link at the top of the homepage, unless said otherwise.

To get the unlimited upload time, Youtube will eventually review you account to see if you can be entrusted with it, providing that your account had a history of complying with the Terms of Use and Community Guidelines. In the meantime, you'll need to have videos in your account to qualify. Another way is to apply for the Youtube Partner Program, but they are qualifications you must meet before applying.

If you videos fail to upload for whatever reason, you won't get emailed about the issue, you'll only see an error message next to a video that was processing at the time, either at the Uploads page, or at My Videos page.

About uploading videos longer then 15 minutes, see this blog post by Youtube:

Yes, 4.5 it's like how kill bill 1 & 2 are split into 2 movies.
