Windows 8 - Hibernation or Sleep Mode?

Tyharo
Since I've gotten Windows 8 ,when it first came out, I've always had my laptop go into hibernation when I close the lid. After exploring I found that sleep mode is actually a hybrid sleep. Is it better to have my laptop go into hibernation or sleep mode? I've read that hibernation and sleep mode have pros and cons of their own and I'm wondering which setting would be best to maintain the health of my laptop as long as possible.

There is no hard and fast rule for what is best because this involves different ways that different people do things differently.

Personally however whenever I'm moving a NB I prefer to shut it down instead of sticking it into a Bag where there is no ventilation and leaving it there to possibly cook itself. I've seen several do that just as I have seen several open up quite nicely thank you very much after being stuffed into a NB Bag 3 days ago and forgotten about. I personally use a Cool Pad under every NB that I use as I have yet to find any that is good enough at keeping them self cool and working for long periods of time. I can live with shorter Battery Life if it means that i have the NB for longer than a few months.
