Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile

irvingf
I need help. We are running roaming profiles and I'm having too many problems with them. One of the error messages that I get is "Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile..." Does anybody have a trick or a fix for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Have you checked the location the roaming profile is set to be stored to make sure the permissions are set correctly and the settings are accessible?

I checked, the owner of the folder which is the user, has full control of that folder. Aslo, I've noticed that on all the computers, when I get that error message, I have to restart that particular computer a few times before I don't receive that message again. I think the problem has to do with DNS, but where to go from here. Please if you can help...thanks.

please tell me have u tried to login with that user with local user profile???

if not delete this user and create it again. Login with this user in domain & don't do aything. just logoff.

After that follow the steps sor roaming profile frm A-Z.

This might work.

Hi,

This could be the problem because of NIC settigns,
either coz of network speed or could becase you use NetBIOS over TCP/IP (NetBT) to connect to your network.

This would solve your qyery.

Thanks, let me know

When system says that it is unable to find the server copy of profile it indicates that your pc is unable to contact the profile on the server because of teh n/w commumication issue. cHECK YOUR N/W CONNCET AND FIX IT. tHIS WOULD RESOLVE TEH ISSUE.

Seriously, if they haven't solved this issue in 3 years, then they'd probably drop the whole system.

i had the exact same issue,,, after trying to set the profiles path in the MS format \\server\share \folder and the home folder \\server\share\folder\name i tryed something simple just share a folder named "profiles in c: & give it full permissions to everyone . then in profiles path add "c:\profiles" & in home folder click local path and add "c:\profiles\name" name = the profilename and close the AD and taDA!!! after 2 days of reading MS BS & many other pages it finally worked:) Hope this helps
