    Who Am I Really

    it's a crap feature called "folder discovery" where exploder snoops the files and changes the view based on what it finds

    open a folder full of bmp, jpg, png,etc. images and it automatically switches to frign thumbnails
    if I want to see thumbnails I'll check out my hands

    I've always used details view since the first time I used windows
    so I expect when I click "apply to all" it should apply to all forever after
    and not change because I copied another file type into any particular folder

    if you want the same view in all folders you need to hit the registry with the following:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\AllFolders\Shell]
    "FolderType"="NotSpecified"

    save that as a .reg file (I named it: NoDiscovery.reg)
    and then select it and hit enter "run" it
    restart and all folder views stay the way you set them up
