windows XP is very slow to shutdown?

cakester
I have windows XP on my laptop and recently noticed that when I shut down the computer, and the screen turns all blue, it stays like that for several minutes before it actually shuts off. Does anyone have any idea of what could be causing this? I noticed this after installing microsofts visual express but I have installed that program before and never had this problem.

Try and uninstall Microsoft visual express and see if it still has that problem at shut down. If its still there even after that try and see if there's a newer version or a patch or run a disk error check and a defrag.
    See if that helps.

Hi if you are on a domain, you may want to try updating you gpo, (gpupdate/force at a cmd prompt)
sometimes the Domain GPOs are slow on shutdown if there out of date.
