Wired internet on my vista laptop? help!

cHaZzZZ^
im currently on cable internet running here on my vista ultimate desktop.. i had the internet even before the clean install of vista.. after the install, it automatically recognizes my internet without problems..

but how come when i plug the cat5 wire to my laptop (running vista business, hp nx6320), it only shows LOCAL as the type of access in the networking and sharing center, i thought it would automatically recognize it like my freshly installed desktop did.. hence, i couldnt use the internet on my laptop.. what's wrong?

The Modem the LAN can not be set up correctly but if it's coming from a different device it sounds as if the LAN isn't setup correctly.

For all Vista questions you have 3 options.

1 Ring MS Technical Support and ask them if you have a Retail product they have to supply Technical Advice but if it's OEM they can charge you like a Wounded Bull.

2Ring the maker HP in this case and ask why the Hardware doesn't work correctly. It's unlikely that you'll get much help as Vista is still so new and has so many unknown qualities that as yet no one knows how it works or why it works the way that it does.

I'm not sure how good the answers are as they all seem to be end users attempting to help other end users and the occasional Nuff Off but hey they are Windows Users so what else can you expect?

I just installed Vista on Toshiba A105-S4014 laptop which previously run on Win Media Center 2005. However, no matter how I tried, I just can't get the ethernet port working. Upon connecting my RJ45 into the port, both led are blinking, but Vista doesn't recognize any uninstalled new hardware at all.
    Anybody please help.

You need the Vista Ones not the XP ones that you had previously.
