XP and Wireless - Repeated Dropped Connection

I have a repeating issue whereby my desktop drops internet connection despite wireless service being Excellent... My laptop has no such issues. Please Help!

I have wireless via my Toshiba Cable Modem PCX5000 installed by RoadRunner/TimeWarnerCable.

My Desktop, a Dell Optiplex GX260 connects through a Netgear WG 111 Wireless Adapter. It runs XP Home (SP2). After a reboot or a wireless repair I get internet for a bit but if I leave my PC for more than 5-10mins, the internet is gone. I've tried disabling my firewall (ZoneAlarm) but no luck.

My work laptop works fantastic with the wireless anywhere in the house - its a Dell Latitude D610 running XP Pro.

I'm at your beck & call to troubleshoot & appreciate any ideas.

    Is it the WGT-111 Netgear USB?
    I've had similar problems if so.

    What you've to do is download the software that comes with the NetGear Adapters and set it to automatically connect to the network.

    Then make sure that you've not go it to disconnect after idle times.

    That fixed my problem, hope it helps you too.

    No, it's the WG111 Netgear USB

    But I assume the interface to manage is similar. Where are the settings to connect automatically and to not disconnect after idle time?
