XP PRO Reinstalls

dvweiland
I want to repair XP, but my XP PRO install CD does not include SP2. My reject message tells me there is a newer version installed on my computer. How to I create a disk from the files on my PC, or do I have to go out and buy the newest version of XP?

on google. SLIPSTREAMING (for those who know how to read instructions and then burn a CD), is the process of adding new files (service pack) to the files of an installation OS CD. If you have a Windows XP CD, you can download SP2 (the actual install file) and then "merge" the file with the information on Windows CD, to create a new image that is recorded onto a new CD. This new CD will be a "slipstreamed" Windows XP SP2 disc.

If you do frequent clean installing or reinstalling Windows with SP1 (or none), slipstreaming is the way to go.
Or you just uninstall SP2, reinstall Windows, and then install SP2. You have to reinstall all MS critical updates again.
Or you can borrow a XP Pro with SP2. You have to match the edition, though (OEM, Retail, Upgrade, Volume license, and so on).
