TR is not dead yet, lets keep posting

AV .
I just refuse to give up on this place and think they will eventually fix it. Its true, every upgrade TR has ever done has been an absolute train wreck, but if they really wanted to discontinue it, they would have just done nothing.

So, this is a call to arms to just post something, anything you want about anything. Music, cat pictures, whatever warms your heart.

I'm thinking that maybe this song applies.

Not all discussions are in the Discussions list! There's an article on lines bosses should not cross on the main page with a bunch of responses, but it's nowhere to be seen in the Discussions page.

Are we now supposed to work through the main page (several pages to see all the active "discussions" from the last week or so) looking for comments/discussions rather than have them ALL in the Discussions page? If so, it's no wonder people have given up!

After the first page of items on the main page, the articles don't have comment counts, so the only way to see what's happening is to go into every article and scroll down to see the comments.

Despite most of the issues having been resolved, the volume of posts that made this site worthwhile is just gone. The contributors aren't posting the same volume as before the change, and some seem to have quietly disappeared.

The fact that two of the featured discussions are Community Scoreboards and even those haven't had posts for days/weeks is also pretty indicative. No "real" discussions worth reading at all. Compared to previously, there would be several new ones a day that may have 50-100 responses.

is to post something provocative yourself. I tried that with my piece on the U.S. Constitution, of course, and that started far less of a kerfuffle than it might have in the past. so perhaps a lot of people have stopped looking at the site at all.

I think they've gone elsewhere. The site's still not completely stable, so we can't expect them to come back at this point. I got the "No Discussions" result on Community this morning. Refresh a couple of times and it's back.

The site is just erratic. Oh well. This is what we have for the moment.

I rarely post anymore because 9 times out of 10, I can't get it to post. I also had two weeks where I couldn't log in to the site no matter what browser I used and whether I was at home or work. So, I gave up. There's very little new content of worth, anymore. It mostly rehashes why Apple is better/worse, than Android/Windows8.x etc.. and this phone is better than this one, and Blackberry is dead/alive, and then advertisements thinly veiled as blogs.

I'm even ignoring the majority of the newlsetters, and will be unsubscribing from most. I hate one of the formats, and they seem to duplicate a lot. If the newsletter is nothing but links with no synopsis of the article/blog, then it'll be unsubscribed. In fact, the only ones that seem to be giving me content that I enjoy are the ones that direct me to ZDNet, and I refuse to post there and get pulled into the trolling between Owllllllnet, Toddbottom and the rest of the universe.

It isn't that people don't want to add content, its because the site has been non functional and erratic.
Just like all of the other "upgrades" TR did, this one is problematic as well.

My thought is to just keep trying and see if this site can work. It looks like the newsletters are different as well and I'm just not really sure about them.

I find they show up underneath the post I replied to and also show up at the beginning of the post.

Its like TR wanted to show the most recent post at the top, like it used to, but it isn't a defined area and blends into the rest of the thread instead. Its very confusing.

Maybe you have to consider your location. In the US, posting, etc. seems to be improving, but the people outside the US still continue to have problems.

Sorry, can't reply, but maybe if they brought back geekend we would be more interested?
