Uh-oh! Q&A bug.........

hippiekarl
My answer to the posted-yesterday question about 'computer slowdown' got cut in two, and only the second half posted (3 times). I just left a mess over there trying to get the first half to show up. When I clicked 'edit' each time to attempt to reinsert the missing text, IT WAS THERE, but as soon as I hit 'submit', it posted without it again. You have the missing text, but it just won't commit to the page. I even tried choosing a generic synonym for 'YouTube' (which I'd mentioned as a cache-hog) in case that was causing a 'spam-alarm' or something, but no go.
Has this happened to anyone else answering a question in the last day? HAL 9000? wizard57? (I know you two get to most of them first)....

But I do keep getting logged in with different User Accounts. Granted they are mine but I can be logged in as HAL post a few answers to things in the Disgusting Forums and then the next post that I make comes up as Smeggy.

OK I would be really confused if any of the other Accounts that I have suddenly came up as I keep them for Emergency Use but what I'm seeing a lot of more recently like over the last day or two is the need to sign in while I'm already signed in. Make a Post then read something and respond to it and I get prompted to log in again.

suddenly visible. Last night I saw AnsuGisalas' suggestion and tried 'shift+refresh'.....nothing. (My 'stuff' page has been showing the total # of posts I've made, but failing to list them by title as links; below the numerical total are the columns 'discussions, contribution, date, et al' but nothing beyond that). Tried it again today after seeing you second the idea (I've never heard of 'shift+refresh' before; that's exactly the sort of thing I hang out with you folks to glean here and there), and still nothing. Then I shut all my browser tabs, purged my system with TweakNow PowerPack, and re-started it (I almost never restart; close-the-lid = sleep). Behold! There's my posts! I hope it lasts, too, as my ability to hold up my end of 'spirited discussions' in a timely fashion relies in large part on being able to find and/or refer to earlier posts (or dormant discussions) quickly.

Come with Mink Covered Seats so the people at PETA People Eating Tasty Animals think that it's great.

They saw a new British Series on TV called Kill It Cut It and Use It.

OH and here's the newest Hardly a Davision just for you Taminkins.

It's currently incomplete as the Streamers in the end of the Handle Bars are not fitted or any of the other Gaudy bits that the Yanks like so much. So it's in AU guise. But on the up side it accelerates well to it's top speed and is very "Green" it currently gives over 312 Miles per US Gallon so it's not only very green it's very cheap to run.

OH and in case you are wondering the Critter was died Purple before it was killed and skinned hence the seat color. Or maybe it just died as it was being altered to the Purple Color as it may have drowned in the process. :^0

Back in the older days HD bought out Aerchmachi to get a small Italian Bike and then did away with it now that have bought into the Chinese Operation and here is their new 2 Stroke offering. The HD Stickers are currently still in design to fit the leaking fuel tank. They have to be specially made so they don't peel off.

Other than that I've finished all Development on this New HD unit. I'm supplying HD with these at $1,200.00 per unit and the current projected price to US Citizens in the USA is $45,324.98 so a good profit is to be made by all.

How many do you want me to setup for you and forward to you via HD?

I'm taking orders now but there may be a slight delay after all 50 year old Dragster Frames are a bit hard to come by and as they are not being made any more it's a slow process.

But at least the chrome stands up much better than the current crop of HD offerings.

Now that the restart/hard refresh 'fix' is known, I just atttempted to look back further than the first page of my comments (page 1 goes back to about Oct. 25), and none of them are showing. It claims 6 pages of comment titles, but will only display the most recent pagefull.

defaulted to the tab 'discussions', claims 299 messages...and shows none of them. That's been my problem; 'hard refresh' doesn't help, but rebooting and re-signing in brings up the first page (of 6) only....Now I'm going to try just closing and re-opening browser (IE9).

Though I must admit that the no Tiny URL is a real pain. Looks like I'm going to have to go and redo several Questions like this so I can post them again. I used to just Bookmark them and Copy & Paste then as an answer, see my response to this question. . :_|

Is I used to Copy & Paste the Links to any New Answers about Data Recovery where the Questioner wanted to know what Software was available.

It's much more personal if you provide the answer that they want instead of posting a link that they have to go to for the different software that is available.

I've had trouble on and off with that. Put a link in a post, post doesn't post at all, but reloads the page with empty fields and no error message.

Last time, I did this three times in a row, cleared caches and tried once more, then I stripped the link and it posted normally. Edited it, stuck the link back in, and it did post.

The scripts that run these pages are client-side and may need to be refreshed.

A hard refresh doesn't always work, but clearing the cache does (at least for me). In Firefox, I use the ClearCache add-on to do this.

    Col,

yours was not displaying as you used a tinyurl.com in your comment. bit.ly and tinyurl.com are banned (too many spammers use them, so I have told our filter to not allow them through - sorry)

Way too many Spammers use URL's to begin with so does that mean no more URL in Answers to Questions?

OH OH OH I have a great link to Cheap Mink Coats and Harley Motor Cycles would you like me to post it here? :^0

But I'll post the Long thing from now on and just hope that TR doesn't start breaking them again.

That's been my problem; 'hard refresh' doesn't help, but rebooting and re-signing in brings up the first page (of 6) only....Now I'm going to try just closing and re-opening browser (IE9).

...it's ALL there. I've been off FF for a couple of years, but I deduce now that the issue may be MS's (ie IE...I couldn't resist typing that), not TR's. Now I'm going to find Ghostery and a few others I used to use with this browser.....

Thank you for the interest and advice, Michael.

I do not see these issues, IE 8.0.6001.18702. Not often that I use IE and was hoping to see just what you have seen, but it does appear to work properly with regard to My Stuff.

Most times I am on a Ubutnu box using Firefox, something wierd is going on from your place, but glad you can get to see what you need now.

Now lets see how long it lasts before we break it again.

Though I must admit that the no Tiny URL is a real pain. Looks like I'm going to have to go and redo several Questions like this so I can post them again. I used to just Bookmark them and Copy & Paste then as an answer, see my response to this question. . :_|

You should add that question to your own favourites, then you can grab the urls from behind the tinyurls whenever you need them... sort of like a bookmark, only more cumbersome

Is I used to Copy & Paste the Links to any New Answers about Data Recovery where the Questioner wanted to know what Software was available.

It's much more personal if you provide the answer that they want instead of posting a link that they have to go to for the different software that is available.

Yep I know I'm LAZY but I've been that way a long time now, and it's more than a Habit by now.

Because that can cause the message to get dropped.
Specifically if you use tinyurl or another link-shortener, that'll drop the post every time.
Otherwise, try to press shift-F5 in your browser window, then check again.

That appears to be it, I took the links out of my post and it works. Thank you!

But the articles that hed great pictures and steb by steps intructions were great, its ashame i cannot post the link.

I did not want to copy and paste the article and have some copyright issues.

and unlink the link; for instance like this www . website . net/restofurl/blabla/bla . htm
That's not too hard on the recipient to reform, and it will let you pass on the info.

The scripts that run these pages are client-side and may need to be refreshed.

A hard refresh doesn't always work, but clearing the cache does (at least for me). In Firefox, I use the ClearCache add-on to do this.

I do know TR blocks links to tiny url and bit. ly, though.

Edit: For example, I had to repost this because I didn't obfuscate the two site names.

I thought maybe a just simple memorial hub post, and link it to the 'wake' threads, and the profiles of our Absent Friends.

It does hurt. Makes me wonder: Sometimes pain is a message we're not hearing. Not sure where to go with that, though.
